Elac launches Debut 2.0

Few speakers have garnered such critical acclaim as the original Debut series by ELAC designed by the legendary audio engineer, Andrew Jones. At Ooberpad, both our team and past customers have thoroughly enjoyed the experience with these audiophile-grade series of speakers that do not break the bank. The original Elac Debut series established a legacy with its build quality and performance never before attainable at such an affordable price-point.

The speaker series changed the game then and is now on the cusp of doing so again with the Debut 2.0 series. Earlier this month, the premium German speaker brand introduced the second generation of its Debut series. Redesigned from the ground up, the speakers feature iterations to sound even more remarkable than its predecessor that sparked a revolution in high-end home theatre sound.

The Debut 2.0 series consists of bookshelf, floorstanding, surround and subwoofers speakers and a bunch new models exclusive to this series. Ooberpad India takes a look at the new features and models available in the Elac Debut 2.0 series.

Elac Debut 2.0 Series - Looking at the new design and features

New Tweeter & Wide-Dispersion Waveguide

The new and revised silk-dome tweeter features a wide-roll surround that reproduces up to 35,000 Hz for a crisp high-frequency response. The waveguide improves directivity control and eliminates the diffraction - a phenomenon natural to traditional box enclosure designs.

New Woven Aramid-Fiber Woofer

The revised shape of the aramid cone offers even greater stiffness and damping, far superior to polypropylene or paper. The added strength allows more flexibility in design to achieve a smoother, tight, and extended low-frequency response.

New Cabinets for Easier Placement

The thick MDF cabinets with a luxurious black ash vinyl finish are larger and internally braced for greater stiffness and strength. This greatly reduces cabinet vibrations which cause unwanted colouration to the speaker's tone. On the Bookshelf and Center Channel speakers, the bass ports are moved to the to the front of the cabinet allowing placement against walls or in bookshelves without any compromise in sonic performance.

Stunning aesthetics and design by Andrew Jones

Designed by Andrew Jones, the Debut Series 2.0 looks quite similar to its predecessor. However, this time around Elac opted for a slightly darker yet suave Black Ash Vinyl finish. All the passive speakers in the series sport 5-way metal binding posts while the subwoofer features LFE and RCA inputs.
