Poron Suspension for Soft Treble 

The suspension between the dome and its bracket on the SR900 uses Poron, a material with shape memory. This suspension method is directly derived from the renowned Utopia Beryllium tweeter - it reduces turbulence by a factor of three in the 2-3kHz range, a range that stimulates sensitivity in the human ear. The inverted dome’s spatial characteristics and very low directivity deliver unmatched sound quality - something that conventional domes used by competitors cannot pull off. This guarantees an incredibly stable sound stage which makes the listening position much less critical.

Flax Cone, So Original 

French-made flax cones exclusively designed and engineered for Focal have been a trademark component of their speakers since 2013. They are made of high-quality flax fibers enclosed by two thin layers of glass fiber and their original design ensures that the speakers are oriented toward an acoustic performance. The flax cones are characterized by their natural sound, low coloration, their richness of reproduction in the midrange register and their tighter bass. The lightness of the fiber meets with the criteria of high internal damping, high velocity, and high flexural rigidity. Flax is twice as light as fiberglass because the fiber is hollow and its low elasticity makes it ideal to increase the flexural rigidity of a sandwich structure.
